Artist Statement:
My recent work has been inspired by the landscapes and seascapes of New England and Ireland.  I never tire of trying to convey the miraculous beauty of our natural world.  While traveling, cross-country skiing, biking or hiking, I attempt to capture fleeting images with my camera and then create a composition with abstracted colors, textures and shapes loosely based on these images.  I am particularly drawn to the dramatic effects of light as it streams through clouds and dapples the landscape in the early morning and late afternoon.  My work appears realistic from a distance and then more abstract upon closer inspection.  I manipulate the shapes and colors from the landscape in order to create a cohesive composition that depicts the beauty all around us.
